Working Hours: 4:00 a.m.
-12:30 p.m., Monday – Friday
- Clean and sanitize designated areas using standard cleaning assignments to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or maintenance needs within buildings and promptly respond to emergencies and inclement weather.
- Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, mops, and scrubbers to complete tasks like dusting, disinfecting, and replenishing supplies.
- Periodically strip and refinish floors, shampoo and extract carpets, and perform pressure washing of entrances, exterior walls, and windows.
- Remove and manage recycling from centralized indoor recycling sites.
- Assist with window washing and other seasonal cleaning tasks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public, and follow verbal and written instructions related to work assignments and operational needs.
- Perform lifting duties up to 30 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations, and perform physical tasks such as grasping, pushing, and pulling cleaning equipment; reaching overhead; bending, squatting, climbing, and maintaining balance.
- Perform snow and ice removal within a team environment during inclement weather, in addition to coordinating with coworkers during group response to emergencies.
- Perform team cleaning tasks and projects during breaks, and when space is accessible.
- May be required to fill in for absenteeism outside of the assigned area.
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience performing housekeeping duties in a university or commercial environment.
- Working knowledge of proper cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting techniques, including the safe use of chemicals, equipment, and supplies to maintain a hygienic and safe environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, mops, scrubbers, and pressure washers, and to perform tasks including floor stripping and refinishing, carpet extraction, window washing, and seasonal cleaning projects.
- Ability to recognize and report discrepancies, damages, or maintenance needs; respond appropriately to emergencies and inclement weather; and manage recycling and cleaning priorities in a timely and reliable manner.
Valid NC Driver's License required.
