Job Overview
Environmental Service Technician – Temporary, NC State University, Raleigh, NC.
Essential duties: maintain cleanliness of over 10 million square feet of campus space, ensuring a safe and inviting environment for students, staff, and visitors.
ShiftsMonday – Friday 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.;
Sunday – Thursday 10:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. (shift differential for night);
Saturday – Wednesday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.;
Saturday – Wednesday 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.;
Saturday – Wednesday 12:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
- Clean and sanitize designated areas using standard cleaning assignments to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or maintenance needs within buildings and respond to emergencies.
- Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, mops, and scrubbers for dusting, disinfecting, and replenishing supplies.
- Periodically strip and refinish floors, shampoo and extract carpets, and perform pressure washing of entrances, exterior walls, and windows.
- Remove and manage recycling from centralized indoor recycling sites.
- Assist with window washing and other seasonal cleaning tasks as needed.
- Some knowledge of cleaning procedures; ability to follow instructions and perform medium to heavy physical work.
- Experience performing housekeeping duties.
- Ability to frequently lift 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs., reach above shoulders, bend, squat, climb, balance, and communicate effectively.
- Preferred:
Experience in a university or commercial environment.
