Overview

Join Our Dynamic Team! We are seeking a skilled Mortgage Litigation Paralegal to perform vital duties in residential loan servicing and default proceedings. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in connection with litigation and mortgage servicing. As a vital member of our Legal Department, you will assist in managing litigation cases and legal issues pertaining to mortgage lending.

This role is critical in maintaining timely actions that align with our company policies and the legal requirements governing mortgage servicing, lending, and consumer protection. As a government contractor, this position has specific requirements, including relevant experience in the mortgage banking industry alongside educational qualifications.

The target compensation for this role ranges from $75,000.00 to $95,000.00.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in resolving litigation cases by collecting and organizing information necessary for settlement evaluations, including drafting requests for settlement approval.
  • Support the legal team in resolving routine legal issues under guidance from senior legal personnel.
  • Open and manage cases within our case management system, including handling incoming correspondences and service of process documents.
  • Review pleadings from third parties or prepared by outside counsel, including summons, complaints, affidavits, answers, motions, orders, and judgments.
  • Prepare discovery responses and collaborate with various business units.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of legal documents by reviewing and correcting discrepancies.
  • Manage document subpoenas by gathering relevant records and drafting formal responses.
  • Oversee matters from initiation to closure, including selecting counsel and monitoring progress.
  • Coordinate logistics for mediations, depositions, and other events requiring attendance.
  • Effectively manage communications with outside counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to loan servicing agreements and internal authority thresholds.
  • Conduct factual research from various sources to support legal proceedings.
  • Prepare administrative requests and labels for office-related tasks.
  • Perform pre-claim title reviews by analyzing title records and submitting claims to insurers.
  • Act as a liaison between outside counsel and internal departments.
  • Provide administrative support to legal staff, including scheduling and managing communications.
  • Maintain a calendar of important events and deadlines.
  • Ensure the accuracy of matter-related reports and documents.
What You Will Need
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage servicing, lending operations, and related litigation.
  • A collaborative spirit, with the ability to work independently as needed.
  • An excellent command of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Sharp analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Experience working with outside counsel, vendors, and various business units.
  • A keen problem-solver who pays attention to detail and fosters collaboration.
  • Strong decision-making skills with a focus on team and organizational impact.
  • Ability to accurately record and track time.
  • Associate s degree and paralegal certification or a bachelor s degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a paralegal.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the mortgage banking and servicing sector.
  • Additionally, two or more years of experience with litigation case management systems, particularly Legal Tracker, is preferred.
