Overview
The Raleigh Police Department is searching for qualified individuals who want to join our corps of law enforcement professionals. Our organization is proud of our professionalism, our values and providing the best services to the citizens of Raleigh.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Responsibilities- Protects life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances
- Patrols assigned areas
- Responds to calls for police service
- Conducts preliminary and follow-up criminal and traffic investigations
- Conducts interviews
- Prepares written reports and field notes of investigations and patrol activities
- Apprehends criminals and testifies in court
- Work requires extensive contact with outside agencies and the general public
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- United States citizen or naturalized citizen
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of graduation from the Raleigh Police Academy
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Vision corrected to 20/20 and cannot be colorblind
Lateral-entry officers are eligible to earn a starting salary of up to $66,124.00.

Heavy WorkExerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and frequent exposure to intense noise.
