Responsibilities- Collaborate with clients and senior associates and other staff to move cases toward resolution efficiently
- Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys
- Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
- Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
- Handle divorce and family law matters from start to finish
- Oversee the drafting of pleadings, motions, and discovery by your paralegal
- Appear in court and advocate for clients
- Communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel
- Learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility as your skills develop
- Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills needed to work with all levels of staff and our clients
- Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
- Candidates must have passed the bar exam
- Take initiative and don’t wait to be told what to do
- Are comfortable independently researching, learning, and problem-solving
- Care deeply about clients and treat everyone with respect (clients, staff, opposing counsel, judges)
- Are excited about litigation and being in court when needed
- Want mentorship but don’t rely on hand-holding
- Believe excellent lawyers can also be excellent human beings
Compensation: $89,000 yearly
