Position Overview

We are seeking a Litigation Attorney with 4–6 years of experience to join our team in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work alongside our experienced litigators on a wide array of complex disputes across multiple litigation practice areas. Morningstar Law Group’s litigation practice spans all types of business lawsuits, including complex commercial disputes, intellectual property and technology cases, employment, real estate, and regulatory challenges.

You will collaborate in all phases of the litigation process, from thorough pre‑suit investigations and case strategy development to discovery, motion practice, negotiations, and trial or arbitration proceedings. This position offers an ambitious attorney the chance to broaden their expertise by handling high‑stakes matters in federal and state courts and to grow alongside accomplished mentors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management:
    Manage and contribute to all aspects of litigation on assigned cases, including factual investigation, legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and managing discovery.
  • Courtroom Representation:
    Assist senior attorneys in hearings, mediations, and trials; help develop strategies and prepare for significant proceedings. First chair depositions, hearings, etc., commensurate with demonstrated competence.
  • Client Interaction:
    Communicate directly with clients, advising on case status, strategy, and risk assessment.
  • Collaboration:

    Work across practice groups to address the multifaceted issues in complex disputes.
  • Professional Development:
    Grow through hands‑on experience, mentorship, and increasing responsibility.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; must become licensed in North Carolina within one year.
  • 4–6 years of substantive complex litigation experience.
  • Superior research, analysis, and writing skills.
  • Strong oral advocacy and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and case responsibilities while maintaining high‑quality work.
  • Strongly Preferred:
    Large law firm experience, judicial clerkship, or previous career.
