The Business Intelligence Analyst is an opportunity to do meaningful, high-visibility work that directly supports how Coastal makes decisions and serves its members. In this role, you'll help teams understand their data, uncover insights, and improve performance across the organization.
You'll partner closely with business leaders and senior analysts to transform questions into clear, actionable reporting and analysis. Along the way, you'll strengthen your technical expertise in Power BI and SQL, deepen your business acumen, and contribute to enterprise KPI standards that create trust and consistency in our data.

Job SummaryThe Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst supports the development, enhancement, and delivery of BI solutions that enable data-informed decision-making across the organization. This role focuses on building dashboards and reports, performing defined analyses, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting enterprise reporting standards. The BI Analyst collaborates with business units, Senior BI Analysts, and data governance partners to deliver high-quality, actionable insights while contributing to a data-driven culture and maturing analytical capabilities.
Responsibilities- (35%) BI Product Development:
Build, maintain, and enhance BI products (dashboards, reports, and analyses) using tools such as Power BI, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with business needs, while applying new techniques and best practices learned through ongoing training and mentorship. - (25%) Data Analysis & Insights:
Conduct scoped analyses to answer defined business questions, summarize findings, and present insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. - (15%) Data Quality & Validation:
Perform data validation, quality checks, and troubleshooting to ensure trust in reporting and adherence to enterprise data standards. - (15%) Requirements Gathering &
Collaboration:
Partner with business units to clarify reporting needs, gather requirements, document business logic, and refine reporting solutions under the guidance of senior team members. - (10%) Governance & Documentation:
Apply enterprise KPI definitions, document metrics and business rules, communicate reporting logic and changes to stakeholders, and support data governance initiatives.
- Two years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, data analytics, or equivalent demonstrated ability.
- Strong technical skills with BI tools (Power BI preferred) and SQL for data extraction, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience creating dashboards, visuals, and data models in a production environment.
- Understanding of data visualization and data storytelling fundamentals.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms, KPIs, and standard data governance practices is preferred.
- Experience in financial services is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Python for data analysis (e.g., Pandas, Num Py, Matplotlib) is a plus.
- Related bachelor's degree.
Must be able to learn and retain information; analyze data and think sequentially; remain in a stationary position; operate a computer continuously; and communicate effectively with others on a frequent basis.
