Data Staff, Inc. is currently seeking a Microsoft 365 Engineer for a contract opportunity with one of our direct clients in Raleigh, NC.

Role Overview
Our organization is advancing a secure, cloud-centric collaboration environment across a global footprint. To support this evolution, we are looking for a skilled engineer with deep experience in Microsoft 365 and enterprise identity services to help architect, operate, and enhance our collaboration and access platforms.
This position blends hands-on technical ownership with strategic planning responsibilities. You will help shape identity governance, improve cloud collaboration capabilities, and ensure our Microsoft ecosystem remains secure, resilient, and compliant while supporting both internal teams and external partners.
You’ll collaborate closely with Information Security, Identity Services, Infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to design solutions that scale globally and align with regulatory and corporate standards.
Core Responsibilities
Microsoft 365 & Identity Platform Administration
- Implement, operate, and maintain Microsoft 365 workloads such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and One Drive.
- Track service availability and performance across Microsoft 365 and Entra , producing regular health and status assessments.
- Manage platform lifecycle activities, including configuration changes, enhancements, and decommissioning.
- Support and enhance Microsoft 365 Copilot functionality with proper identity configuration and access controls.
Strategic Projects & Platform Enhancements
- Lead and contribute to initiatives related to identity services, access management, and Microsoft 365 integration.
- Promote adoption of advanced Microsoft 365 E5 security, compliance, and governance capabilities.
- Help evolve the enterprise identity roadmap in support of a cloud-first operating model.
Identity & Access Services
- Design and refine identity solutions leveraging Entra , Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management, and Multi-Factor Authentication.
- Oversee identity lifecycle processes, including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding.
- Administer and govern Entra-based groups, service principals, guest identities, and privileged accounts.
- Conduct access reviews and maintain role-based access policies to meet compliance requirements.
- Manage external identity access to enable secure collaboration with third parties.
- Establish and maintain governance standards for Microsoft 365 Groups, including ownership, naming, and lifecycle controls.
- Ensure identity and collaboration platforms align with security policies and regulatory obligations.
- Partner with compliance and security teams to address audit findings and risk mitigation.
Application Integration & Identity Enablement
- Act as the primary liaison for onboarding applications into Entra .
- Define and improve processes for application authentication and authorization.
- Work alongside teams using platforms such as Okta and SailPoint to ensure consistent identity workflows across systems.
Required Experience & Skills
- Demonstrated experience supporting Microsoft 365 in a large-scale or enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Entra , identity governance, and access control technologies.
- Experience with Azure Active Directory–based identity solutions.
- Ability to automate administrative tasks using Power Shell.
- Solid understanding of cloud security concepts, authentication protocols, and enterprise networking.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical solutions clearly.

- Identity and Access Administrator Associate
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert (nice to have)
