Piper Companies is seeking a Senior System Analyst, Policy Administration for an insurance technology team in Durham, NC. The Senior System Analyst will analyze system behavior, document technical requirements, support SDLC activities, and serve as the primary technical point of contact for the Policy Administration platform. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite per week in Durham, NC.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Responsibilities- Analyze Policy Administration system components and recommend enhancements or modernization opportunities
- Create detailed technical requirement documentation, user stories, and process flows
- Collaborate with developers, testers, product owners, and vendor partners to support product changes and system configuration
- Investigate production issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive resolution
- Query SQL databases to validate system behavior and troubleshoot data issues
- Support functional testing, UAT activities, and deployment readiness
- Develop SOPs, training documents, and end‑user materials for new functionality
- Maintain comprehensive, high‑quality system documentation
- Serve as the primary technical contact for issues related to the Policy Administration platform
- Analyze data feeds, system defects, and cross‑system dependencies to support ongoing enhancements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field
- 4+ years of Systems Analyst experience (not Business Analyst experience)
- Strong insurance background with hands‑on Policy Administration experience
- SQL skills including querying, troubleshooting, and validating system behavior
- Experience translating business requirements into detailed technical specifications
- Prior experience supporting insurance administrative platforms or annuity/life insurance products
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and production‑critical issues
- Highly organized with the ability to maintain documentation and collaborate across technical teams
- $120,000 annual salary
- 10% bonus
- 7.5% long‑term incentive plan
