IT Support, Systems Engineer

This is an on-site, multi-year project assignment, available via W2 contract hire. Travel may be needed to ensure project delivery expectations are met.
Blackfield Associates is currently supporting one of our key biopharmaceutical manufacturing partners in their search for an IT Systems Engineer to support an ongoing large-scale site expansion program in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate will provide Tier 1 operational support as part of a cross-functional IT Infrastructure team, as well as assist in the maintenance & administration of IT systems. This is not a people manager position.
The role will report to the IT Infrastructure Manager for the project.
- Install, troubleshoot, diagnose & resolve issues with IT network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, WAPs, etc.) & infrastructure systems (Monitoring Tools, Network Management systems, etc.)
- Hands-on with hardware & software including server room & patch room build- outs
- Operate infrastructure networks equipment/systems under FDA regulations & guidelines as they relate to computer-based information & automation systems
- Provide tier 1-2 IT network support, including after-hours
- Provide tier 1-2 server administration/support for onsite virtual servers
- Provide tier 1 support of site ERP system, SAP, including iDOC monitoring, analysis, & resolution
- Liaison between Site end users & HQ end user support for site ERP system, SAP
- Provide ad-hoc production support & after-hours support to the site for IT related issues
- Maintain network/infrastructure documentation in accordance with corporate requirements
- Support backup/restore processes for manufacturing systems
- Interacts with equipment & service vendors for troubleshooting, installation, improving reliability &/or efficiency purposes
- Follows all cGMPs & ensures that product is manufactured according to procedure & current Good Manufacturing Practices
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field from an accredited university required.
- May consider Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field from an accredited college and seven (7) years of experience implementing & administering networks in a medium to large enterprise environment and supporting Windows based virtual servers.
- Specific knowledge of networking principles & concepts preferred.
- Experience supporting Windows based virtual servers preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, food, cosmetic, beverage or relevant work preferred.
