Associate Director, Generative AI
Location:

As Associate Director, Generative AI, you will report to the Senior Director, Data Science – AI & Optimization. Based in one of the three locations, you will lead the development of Generative AI solutions, define product roadmaps for in‑house organic solutions, and oversee the deployment of AI and Gen AI across commercial functions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Gen AI strategy and solution development, bringing sustainable methodologies to product design.
- Assist business owners with AI procurement initiatives and lead technical feasibility discussions.
- Partner with GCO and business owners to govern AI and technology integration of futuristic AI solutions.
- Pressure test explainability, sustainability, and model evolution roadmap for external solutions.
- Manage platform choice with IT and design internally built solutions.
- Work with EDSC to plan and develop cross‑functional use cases and serve as the point of contact for commercial AI policy and governance work streams.
- Liaise with affiliates (U.S. and ex‑U.S.) to understand AI requirements, shape use cases, and act as SME for AI use cases.
- Support AI rollouts and manage the sustainability of AI products with GDI and U.S. teams.
- Bring industry‑wide best practices in DS and AI, focusing on commercial use cases.
- Lead AI literacy content as a member of the EDSC working group and assist in bridging commercial‑specific content.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience, or
- Master’s Degree and 8 years of experience, or
- PhD and 2 years of experience.
- 10+ years of relevant data science / analytics / computer science / development experience (Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD).
- Proven success deploying Gen AI solutions in commercial settings.
- Experience scaling AI products and platforms from pilot to production.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex AI concepts for cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS and Databricks.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of AI‑related regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, FDA, EU AI Act).
- Recognized as a credible data science expert and partner to commercial and cross‑functional teams.
- Skilled in enabling teams through tools, training, and mentorship.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Management experience influencing senior‑level stakeholders.
- Ability to deliver complex programs with measurable impact.
- Proven ability to scout, evaluate, and pilot external AI solutions.
- Structured problem‑solving and collaborative influence skills.
- Results orientation, strategic thinking, measurement‑driven decision making, and enterprise thinking.
