Overview
Senior Technical (IT) Consultant in Raleigh, NC. This is a hands‑on technical position that will leverage real world experience and vendor best practice knowledge to communicate and assist external customers so that the technology leveraged is suitable to run our suite of applications. Excellent communication and comfort with presenting technical details is required while this position will regularly interface with customer senior management and technical resources.
This is a hybrid (office/home) schedule with some travel to customer locations as needed.
- Participate in presales and new customer Tech Consult calls and speak to application and environment/infrastructure technical requirements, system recommendations and technical deployment strategies
- Conduct customer technical consultations to determine if their current hardware or virtual infrastructure configurations meet all application requirements, guidelines and vendor best practices to ensure the best possible experience with our suite of products
- Work with various internal and external resources to identify and correct any reported performance or application issues
- Perform software installations and upgrades for our full suite of products
- Perform customer database migrations
- Accurately document all technical consultations, conversations with customers, resolution steps and gather feedback in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Dev Ops
- Provide frontline technical support to internal Implementation, Training, Document and Report departments for Soft Pro applications
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging computing technologies
- Own key customer technical items and participate with resources from Support, R&D and Implementation to identify and resolve customer issues
- Create, own and maintain multiple VM environments for internal departments
- Travel to customer locations on occasion to assist with isolating and correcting technical infrastructure or performance issues
- Create and update precise documentation for team processes and contribute to the knowledge base platform
- Train other teams and departmental resources on new product installations as they become available
- Provide a high level of customer service to customers, both internal and external
- Perform other duties as assigned
- This position is an ideal opportunity for an IT network professional with hands-on expertise across a wide variety of technologies
- The ideal candidate will have a great attitude and feel comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment
- 6+ years of IT experience at the server & infrastructure level
- Microsoft certification or equivalent - MCSA (specifically SQL and Windows certifications)
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting the following:
- Windows Server 2016 and later, Active Directory (all aspects)
- MS SQL Server 2016 and later (installing, configuring, and fully supporting)
- VMware and virtualization technologies
- Networking components (Switching & Routing)
- Citrix Presentation Server and/or Microsoft Terminal Server
- Desktop operating systems (Windows 10 and Windows 11)
- Office 2016 and later
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Backup software and processes
- Experience with remote desktop control solutions (Screen Connect, MS Teams, Beyond Trust, etc.)
- Proficient with troubleshooting and resolving client/server network connectivity issues and performance analysis
- Windows scripting
- Must be customer service driven
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to consistently follow processes
- Strong problem solving, analytic and testing skills
- Work effectively in a team environment contributing to the growth of the entire team
- High attention to detail and time-management skills
- Evening and weekend availability for after-hours scheduled services
A Bachelor's Degree is desirable but not required. Microsoft Server operating systems certifications (MCSA) are also highly desirable.
