As a Risk & Control Advisor within PNC's Operational Risk Management organization, you will play a key role at the intersection of Operations and Technology Risk functions, reporting to the Senior Operational Risk Officer for Technology, Fraud, Operational Resilience and GenAI. You will partner with the Data and Automation governance and engineering teams, legal, risk and compliance to deliver comprehensive risk‑management strategies for the firm's artificial intelligence program.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with Data & Automation governance, legal, risk and compliance teams to develop and execute comprehensive risk‑management strategies for the firm’s AI program.
- Drive informed risk‑management decision‑making and practices for GenAI activities.
- Engage first‑line defense colleagues to identify risk areas, concerns, patterns and trends.
- Lead second‑line of defense identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of risks related to GenAI activities, both existing and emergent.
- Provide effective and credible risk‑management challenge and oversight of GenAI governance framework and deployment.
- Engage deeply with technical teams to evaluate implementations (e.g., RAG architectures, prompt injection defenses, output monitoring) and embed governance checkpoints into CI/CD pipelines.
- Prepare concise executive‑level presentations and reports for governance and regulatory engagements.
- 5+ years of experience in risk management, AI/ML development, audit or compliance roles, preferably in technology‑driven environments.
- Deep understanding of AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing and their associated risks.
- Experience in the financial services industry or a highly regulated environment strongly preferred.
- Hands‑on AI/ML development expertise (LLMs, RAG architectures, GenAI risk‑mitigation strategies).
- Knowledge of governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001 and evolving regulatory landscapes (e.g., EU AI Act).
- Ability to assess vendor‑provided AI tools for risk and controls and evaluate business use‑case risk assessments and integration into PNC processes.
- Exceptional communication skills to collaborate and influence across lines of business.
- Expertise in end‑to‑end model lifecycle management – development, validation, monitoring and retirement.
- Compliance reporting, customer risk, decision making, regulatory requirements, risk assessments, risk control, strategic objectives.
- University or college degree; 5+ years industry‑relevant experience.
- Relevant certifications or industry‑specific certifications preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Base Salary: $65,000 – $157,300 per year, incentive eligible based on company, business and individual performance.
