Job Summary

Provide technical and programmatic assistance to the Feline Health Center, supporting therapeutic programs such as I‑131 hyperthyroidism treatment, delivering patient care, and coordinating services across specialty teams.

Essential

Job Duties
  • Support the I‑131 hyperthyroidism program.
  • Provide excellent patient care using comprehensive knowledge of feline anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment, and drug administration.
  • Demonstrate and encourage feline‑friendly low‑stress handling techniques.
  • Work directly with clients, DVMs, and hospital personnel to facilitate communication and coordinate services to optimize patient care.
  • Participate in client check‑in, patient admission, updates, scheduling, and questions.
  • Perform technical procedures including anesthesia support and monitoring, IV catheter placement, venipuncture, IV injections, drug administration (IV, oral, subcutaneous), inpatient hospitalization care, and routine diagnostic testing.
  • Supervise, coach, teach, orient, and evaluate veterinary students and house officers on feline‑friendly practices.
  • Support in‑house training of staff to comply with feline‑friendly practices.
  • Assist with feline‑related clinical studies by adhering to research protocols, obtaining client consent, collecting and processing patient samples, and recording clinical trial data.
  • Record data related to patient refine, diagnostics, treatments, and client communications.
  • Provide quick and accurate information regarding each patient, acting as a liaison between purposely and veterinarian.
  • Enter data into electronic medical records.
Programmatic Assistance
  • Organize, coordinate, and develop initiatives to meet program needs and enhance the success of the Feline Health Center.
  • Collaborate with administration to ensure appropriate patient flow and program initiatives.
  • Review, update, and prepare communications, marketing, and program databases.
  • Evaluate, research, and assist with procurement of feline clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with symposium, community outreach, and educational events.
  • Pursue ongoing continuing education to support career growth and maintain licensure.
  • Partner with the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Foundation for philanthropic development, stewardship, and cultivation of donors.
Other Responsibilities
  • Participate in training, teaching, and mentoring of students, interns, and residents.
  • Lift up to 50 pמודד (with or without accommodations).

  • Support clinicians and students in diagnostics, anesthetic recovery, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, ensure proper use of hospital information systems, and uphold infection control and safety standards.
Qualifications Minimum ExperienceยาEducation

Completion of an accredited training program in the related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licensure.

Preferred Qualifications
    Previous experience in a feline veterinary setting.
  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaningுக்கும் chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all times and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged or challenging situations.

Required Pure license or certification
  • NC Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or eligibility for the NC RVT exam.
