, located on the 7th floor of the Heart and Vascular Hospital
, is a 24-bed unit providing intermediate-level care to patients with complex cardiac conditions and multiple co-morbidities. You'll be part of a highly skilled, collaborative team caring for adult and geriatric patients with diverse and challenging cardiac needs.

Unit OverviewThe 7 HV Cardiac Medicine Unit provides specialized care for patients with:
- Heart failure
- Dysrhythmias
- Myocardial infarctions (heart attacks)
- Pre- and post-cardiac and vascular procedures
- Medical patients with significant cardiac histories and complex co-morbidities
Each patient room is equipped with GE bedside monitors and in-room computers to support real-time documentation and high-quality care delivery.
Care on this unit is delivered through a team-based model
, with close collaboration among nurses, physicians, APPs, pharmacists, care managers, chaplains, patient care technicians, and unit secretaries. In addition,
specialized telemetry technicians in the Telemetry Command Center provide continuous rhythm surveillance and real-time support to the care team.
As a Clinical Support Tech on the 7 HV Cardiac Medicine Unit, you will:
Provide compassionate, patient-centered support to cardiac patients under the direction of licensed nursing staff
Obtain and document vital signs
, including cardiac-related assessments, and promptly report changes in patient conditionAssist with patient care for individuals with cardiac conditions, including those recovering from cardiac and vascular procedures
Support patient mobility, hygiene, comfort measures, and safety
, including fall prevention and telemetry managementAssist nurses and providers with procedures
, patient transport, and coordination of careCollaborate with an interdisciplinary care team
, including nurses, physicians, APPs, pharmacists, and support staffSupport continuous cardiac monitoring and communicate rhythm concerns in coordination with the Telemetry Command Center

Responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms and performing a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance of the patient care unit desk area functions.
ResponsibilitiesAssists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
Critically reviews patient care documentation, noting any significant changes in the patient's condition and reporting immediately to a registered nurse or physician.
Provides a variety of clerical tasks including organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, researching information as requested by nurses and physicians, reviewing orders for logic and clarity, revising orders as requested by the nurse, answering the telephone/patient call lights, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records. Performs routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies. Provides administrative and clerical support including PI audits and data entry.
Provides clinical support assistance including cleaning the work area, maintaining office equipment, troubleshooting common software and hardware problems, changing linens, checking supply inventory, restocking supplies, transporting patients/ supplies/ specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new employees and students.
Provides direct personal care to patients as outlined in plan of care activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, assisting with ambulation.
