Medical Technologist I – Rex Transfusion Services

Join UNC Health as a Medical Technologist I in the Rex Transfusion Services department. This role supports clinical laboratory activities in the UNC Health Care System.

Night shift 9:00 pm – 7:30 am every other Thursday‑Wednesday night.

• Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
• Participate in team projects and special assignments.
• Teach clinical laboratory science students, pathology residents, and train new employees; serve as a technical resource.
• Perform quality control and equipment maintenance.
• Conduct routine and less standardized test procedures including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests; observe tests and provide data.
• Prepare specimens, reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
• Report results to healthcare providers; consult with providers about test results.
• Review test results to ensure accurate reporting and timely error correction.

• Bachelor’s of Science degree.

• Must obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.

• No prior experience required.
