Collections Representative – Full-Time Position – Raleigh Location

We are a dynamic, fast-paced specialty medical practice committed to delivering exceptional care and service to our patients. We’re seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Collections Representative to join our team and support our accounts receivable and patient collections operations.

Position Summary:
The Collections Representative performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks, primarily focused on collecting on patient accounts. This role also supports accounts receivable functions and works directly with patients regarding past-due balances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact patients regarding past-due balances and assist with payment arrangements.
  • Perform accounts receivable follow-up and reconciliation activities.
  • Review patient accounts for accuracy, completeness, and outstanding balances.
  • Work with insurance carriers to verify coverage and resolve payment discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of collection and billing activities.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, coworkers, management, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and applicable payer and privacy regulations.
  • Support administrative and clerical tasks related to billing and collections.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in bookkeeping, patient collections, accounts receivable, or medical billing (or equivalent coursework).
  • Knowledge of medical billing terminology, insurance reimbursement, and reconciliation.
  • Understanding of various health insurance plans preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems independently with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach and positive demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, patients, and vendors.
