EKG Tech II - Night Shift

Duke Raleigh Campus is a 204‑bed hospital, the third largest of Duke Health’s four hospitals, offering comprehensive services including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing care.

EKG Technician II – Night Shift (18:30 – 07:00). 12‑hour shifts, 36 hours per week, biweekly pay period. 2 weekend shifts per 6‑week schedule (Saturday & Sunday).

• Operate electrocardiograph equipment to record variations in heart muscle action.
• Prepare patients for electrocardiogram, explaining procedures and placing electrodes on arms, legs, and chest.
• Enter patient information into electrocardiograph, including history number and patient name.
• Remove electrodes; add billing charge to requisition slip; review electrocardiogram for technical acceptability.
• Mount electrocardiograms for interpretation by physician; code and distribute EKG data; record and file test information.
• Clean, adjust, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Assist in training new personnel.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

• High School Graduate or GED.
• 1 year successful experience as an ECG Technician I.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Accept responsibility for accuracy and responsiveness.
• Work under pressure.
• Perform ECG and ECG related studies.
