This position will provide comprehensive psychology services to patients of Bariatric Surgery and patient working with the Medical Obesity team with duties to include evaluations, clinical consultation, patient and family counseling, and collaboration during team meetings, multi-disciplinary conferences, regarding patient management strategies.
This position is located at UNC Rex NC Surgery-Bariatrics and is a Hybrid role.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide Psychological Evaluations:
Conduct Initial Assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with other professionals. - Provide Follow-Up Consultation for Patients and Their Families:
Conduct ongoing therapy sessions, educate patients and their families, and provide crisis intervention. - Provide Follow-Up Services as Needed:
Schedule regular check-ins, coordinate with community resources, maintain detailed records, and gather feedback to improve outcomes.
- Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.
- Currently licensed as a Psychologist and eligible to practice in the state of North Carolina or within three months of start date.
- Previous experience highly preferred but not required.
Understanding of Health Psychology, Bariatric Medicine, Eating Disorders, and Eating Disturbances is required. Skilled in use of counseling theory and culturally responsive approaches to clinical mental health.
