Accountant
College of Engineering – Dean’s Office/Administration, Raleigh, NC
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, manage and analyze complex budgets for Dean’s Office projects, including state appropriations, receipts, trust funds and federally supported projects.
- Maintain budget projections and tracking tools; analyze financial data, recommend adjustments and process corrections or reversals as needed.
- Monitor accounts, special funds and allocations to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Provide transactional financial support to college units, including Finance, Facilities, Communications, Research Administration, Human Resources and Associate Dean offices.
- Process and coordinate vouchers, journals, IDJs, marketplace orders, P‑card transactions, purchase orders, requisitions and travel.
- Coordinate purchase orders over $5,000 and manage new vendor setup and vendor updates.
- Serve as a point of contact for transaction‑related questions and workflow support.
- Monitor accounts and transactions for compliance with Cost Accounting Standards, State of North Carolina and NCSU policies.
- Assist with audit planning, perform quarterly reviews and prepare financial summary reports.
- Review data for accuracy, identify issues and resolve discrepancies.
- Apply knowledge of accounting structures to guide and approve transactions.
- Complete first‑level contract reviews in coordination with central purchasing.
- Communicate spending and travel guidelines and related updates.
- Process new account requests in accordance with applicable policies and accounting structures.
- Provide backup support for billing functions and other team responsibilities.
- Serve as backup College CAMS coordinator and Risk Insurance representative.
- Participate in departmental, college and university meetings related to finance and research administration.
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- People Soft Human Resources and Financials experience or similar system.
- Experience in PINS, RADAR, NSF Fastlane, grants.gov and WRS Systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting preferred.
