Financial Manager, Corporate Finance
We are a private equity ground acquiring and integrating multiple contract-based water and wastewater services businesses. We are hiring a Senior Finance Manager to lead the on-the-ground finance integration of our first acquisitions. This role is critical. The initial businesses have fragmented, founder-led finance functions that must be rebuilt, standardized, and integrated into a single operating platform — and future acquisitions will follow the same path.
This is a hands‑on, execution‑driven role for someone who is naturally curious, comfortable asking difficult questions, and capable of untangling unclear or incomplete information. You will report to an experienced Interim CFO who sets the standards and architecture; your job is to investigate, implement, integrate, stabilize and lead execution.
Base pay range$85,000.00/yr - $/yr
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Finance Integration & Standardization
- Integrate multiple legacy finance functions into a single, standardized platform
- Rebuild and align charts of accounts across businesses
- Implement uniform accounting policies, close processes, and reporting cadence
- Prepare acquired businesses for future add‑on integrations
- Investigation, Problem‑Solving & Data Recovery
- Proactively ask questions of existing management and staff to understand how things actually work
- Investigate historical financial data across outdated or incomplete systems
- Locate, validate, and leverage legacy data needed to rebuild accurate reporting
- Untangle inconsistencies between systems, reports, and operational reality
- Solve problems independently and elevate issues thoughtfully when needed
- Acquisition & Post‑Close Execution
- Support finance integration during and after acquisitions
- Work directly with founders and operators to transition off legacy processes
- Stabilize reporting and cash flow in the first 30–90 days post‑close
- Travel to newly acquired businesses, including in the Northeast, to support integration efforts
- Clean up inherited AR/AP across multiple entities
- Identify billing gaps, margin leakage, and working capital risks
- Improve collections, vendor management, and cash visibility
- On‑Site, Embedded Execution
- Spend significant time in person within operating company offices
- Partner closely with operations leaders and field teams
- Translate operational activity into accurate, comparable financial reporting
- Reporting & CFO Support
- Produce clean, reliable reporting packages
- Execute integration standards and finance frameworks defined by the Interim CFO
- Flag risks early and recommend practical, executable solutions
Role Overview:
- A core integration and problem‑solving role
- Highly hands‑on and execution‑oriented
- Embedded inside acquired businesses
- Ability to travel — it is a field‑focused, in‑person role
- Ideal for someone who enjoys investigating issues, asking questions, and building clarity from ambiguity
This role is not:
- A CFO or VP‑level strategy role
- A desk‑based accounting position
- A low‑travel or remote role
- A clean, fully built finance environment
Who We’re Looking For:
- 6–10+ years of experience in finance or accounting
- Experience in services, utilities, construction, environmental, or contract‑based businesses
- Direct experience integrating or standardizing finance functions across multiple entities
Demonstrated ability to:
- Ask direct questions and work through resistance or uncertainty
- Investigate unclear processes and reconcile conflicting data
- Recover and leverage data from legacy or outdated systems
- Exposure to acquisition‑driven or private‑equity‑backed environments strongly preferred
- Comfortable working directly with founders and operators
- Willing and able to travel frequently, including to the Northeast
This role is best suited for someone who is naturally curious, persistent, and comfortable operating without perfect information.
Working with Kent Street means joining an entrepreneurial private equity team at the start of a growing infrastructure platform, where execution matters and decisions move quickly. You’ll have real ownership and visibility, helping build the finance and operating standards that will be used across every future acquisition. This is a builder’s role with meaningful responsibility and direct impact, not a polished corporate environment.
We aim to grow the platform to $100 mm in sales over the next 3‑5 years.
