Overview
Position: Head of Finance
Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)
Pay: $120,000 to $130,000/year
Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, preferably within a multi-location or service-based organization; 3 to 5+ years in a Controller, Finance Manager, or equivalent leadership role; proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, audits, and acquisitions.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA and/or MBA preferred).
Type: Full-time;
Contract
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Responsibilities- Own company-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
- Serve as a strategic financial partner to the President & CEO, supporting decision-making and long-term planning.
- Train, coach, and support branch managers on financial performance, budgeting, and accountability.
- Deliver clear, actionable insights at the branch and business-unit level to improve margins, efficiency, and profitability.
- Oversee all accounting functions and ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant consolidated financial reporting.
- Manage month-end close, audits, and financial components of acquisitions and integrations.
- Directly manage one AP/AR team member and oversee relationships with outsourced accounting and procurement partners.
- Design, implement, and improve scalable financial systems and processes, including proprietary service-industry and landscaping software.
- Establish strong internal controls, documentation, and reporting standards.
- Leverage advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex financial models) to support analysis and reporting.
- Build dashboards, leadership reports, and board-ready presentations that translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Communicate financial performance clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong systems mindset with experience building or improving financial processes.
- Advanced Excel expertise required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex models).
- Experience managing outsourced accounting and procurement partners.
- Sage Intacct and Aspire experience strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel to branch locations as needed.
- Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in-office & 2 days remote
