The OpportunityAs a State Income Tax Manager, you will deliver a variety of tax consulting, planning, and compliance services to a diverse range of clients across sectors. The tax practice is evolving, and you will grow by taking on new responsibilities and mentorship.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Oversee state‑level tax projects, including compliance and related research.
- Lead and direct a team managing state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.
- Managing and executing state income tax compliance responsibilities.
- Monitoring and analyzing changes in state income tax laws and regulations and determining impact to the client.
- Providing complex tax review, research, planning and consulting services to diverse clients.
- Leading or assisting with various tax planning, research, and special projects.
- Preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual state income tax provisions.
- Modeling state income tax benefits and consequences using Microsoft Excel, Power
BI or Alteryx. - Writing tax technical memos to articulate issues, conclusions, and analysis.
- Developing and working with staff and seniors to create a team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline and approximately six years of related work experience.
- High level of proficiency in state income tax code, regulations, and procedures.
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to analyze client data, provide technical guidance, and make recommendations.
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed; ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- Achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, or ability to sit for or be a member of a state bar.

- Base salary range: $105,100–$192,600 (all U.S. geographic locations); $126,100–$218,900 for New York City, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento).

- Hybrid work model: 40‑60% onsite for most external client‑serving roles.
