Working on the water resources & transportation team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Whether working on highways and bridges or traffic engineering, our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern, multimodal roadway systems and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for all.

During your internship, you will work on a highly functioning team and aid in providing design services for a wide variety of projects. You'll receive guidance, supervision and mentorship from experienced engineers and professionals with your success as the goal. The majority of our interns convert to full‑time employees.

• Support real client projects by assisting in the design of highway drainage systems, green infrastructure, and stormwater management basins under supervision.
• Assist in performing hydrologic watershed modeling and basic hydraulic models.
• Aid in conducting bridge scour analyses and simple scour countermeasure designs.
• Assist with drafting construction plans and preparing environmental permit applications.

• Currently enrolled in an ABET‑accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• Demonstrated interest in stormwater and environmental engineering through applied coursework or previous internships.
• Familiarity with software tools such as Micro Station, AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

The salary range for this role is $21.00 – $28.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
