Overview
Timmons Group is seeking a talented Civil Designer to join our dynamic Water/Wastewater Group in our Raleigh, NC office. The qualified individual will perform civil site design tasks for a variety of water/wastewater infrastructure projects. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Use professional judgment to independently complete assigned engineering designs.
- Lead and execute civil site design tasks across diverse infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers and mentor junior engineers.
- Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy.
- Make impactful design decisions that align with client goals and project timelines.
- Identify and resolve technical, scheduling, or financial challenges.
- Support construction oversight and respond to contractor inquiries.
- Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, and client communications.
- Act as a technical expert on assigned projects and as Project Manager on smaller scope or specialty projects as assigned.
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- At least three years of design/engineering experience in municipal infrastructure is required.
- Intermediate to advanced ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D software is required.
- Ability to use other engineering automation tools (Revit, BIM 360) is preferred.
- Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.
- Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.
- Must demonstrate two-way communication to effectively work with internal staff.
