The Opportunity
In this role, you will shape how advanced power quality solutions support the reliability, security, and flexibility of modern power grids. As part of Hitachi Energy’s Grid Integration business, you will manage and grow a control engineering organization delivering Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) solutions that help grid owners expand transmission capacity while maintaining stable and secure operation.
How You’ll Make An Impact- Manage, motivate, and coach a team of control engineers delivering advanced FACTS control systems.
- Support team performance to ensure project deliverables meet contract, safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Power Quality project teams to support successful execution of customer projects.
- Guide technical work across control applications, SCADA, HMI, network design, and cyber security.
- Support testing activities and coordination with organizations responsible for control and protection test facilities.
- Drive continuous improvements and change initiatives within control engineering and across functions.
- Steer Scale‑to‑Potential and Regional Center of Competence build‑up programs.
- Promote Hitachi Energy’s values of safety and integrity by taking responsibility for actions and supporting colleagues.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, such as computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience in leadership roles, such as line management, project management, or similar responsibilities.
- Background working with control system design within the FACTS and power electronics industry.
- Knowledge of FACTS applications.
- Knowledge of PI/PID or similar control algorithms.
- Sound knowledge of power systems, including signal processing and active and reactive power concepts.
- Knowledge of power electronic devices.
Position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a hybrid work arrangement and an expectation of being in the office three days per week.
