Senior DeltaV Controls Engineer – Life Sciences

Our client is seeking a Senior Delta

V Controls Engineer
to lead the design, implementation, and delivery of large-scale automation projects within the Life Sciences industry. This role requires deep expertise with Emerson DeltaV
, strong knowledge of cGMP-compliant automation
, and the ability to guide full project life cycles from requirements through commissioning and validation.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing processes, ensuring systems meet regulatory, operational, and performance standards.

• Travel up to 25% for commissioning and client support.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, GAMP5, and 21 CFR Part 11.
• Design ISA‑88 batch sequencing, phase logic, and recipe structures.
• Specify and procure instrumentation, hardware, and control components.
• Integrate third-party equipment using OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus.
• Plan and manage Delta
  
  V system licensing for cost-effective deployment.
• Oversee full project lifecycle including FAT, SAT, commissioning, and validation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across project teams.
• Troubleshoot complex automation issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead the design and implementation of Delta
  
  V control systems for complex Life Sciences capital projects.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans; ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Architect scalable control strategies and system designs aligned with industry best practices.
• Develop high-performance HMIs using Delta
  
  V Live and Delta
  
  V Operate in accordance with ISA‑101.
• Apply class-based configuration methodologies to maximize standardization and scalability.
• Design electrical systems including power distribution, panel layouts, and grounding.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success.
• Implement industrial networking solutions (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus)
• Define server architecture, virtualization, cybersecurity, and redundancy requirements.

• Experience integrating electrical and process control systems.
• Knowledge of server infrastructure and virtualization technologies.
• Expertise in ISA‑101 HMI design and high-performance graphics.
• Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Experience designing class-based configurations for scalable solutions.
• Strong experience with ISA‑88 batch processing and historian integration.
• 8–15 years of automation and control systems engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Emerson Delta
  
  V (design, configuration, implementation)
• Proven ability to lead full project life cycles from design through commissioning and validation.
• Proficiency with industrial communication protocols (HART, FF, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA)

• 3+ years of technical leadership or mentoring experience.
• Experience in biopharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing environments.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation, Siemens PCS7, or Inductive Automation Ignition.

• Onsite role in an office and manufacturing environment.
• Occasional lifting, climbing, and onsite commissioning work.
• May require occasional nights, weekends, or extended hours during critical project phases.
