We are actively looking for a Transportation/Roadway Group Manager based in our Raleigh office. As part of the Transportation practice, the Transportation/Roadway Group Manager is responsible for providing management services to evaluate and improve M&N’s Transportation Practice services including planning, scoping, budgeting, scheduling, managing risk and executing pursuits and projects across the full transportation footprint.

The Transportation/Roadway Group Manager will partner with the Operations Team, Transportation Practice Lead, other Transportation Leads, BULs and financial analysts to outline strategic approach, PMO framework to successfully implement, evaluate pursuit and project performance metrics; to provide measurable oversight and improvement recommendations for both projects and pursuits.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop project execution best practices for transportation projects
  • Establish operational KPI metrics to track project and program performance
  • Report KPI's of Transportation projects and programs to the Operations Leadership and the Transportation Practice Lead.
  • Support the Transportation practice to evaluate technical team compositions for the operations and key strategic projects
  • Continually assess the current Transportation practice services and staff resources, including team strengths and weaknesses through project reviews.
  • Work with BUL’s and other Transportation Leads to evaluate and augment current skill base to optimize performance of current and future projects.
  • Support and drive the advancement of project management training programs specific to transportation (at all levels of experience).
  • Facilitate an advanced project review process that
    1) verifies project set‑up,
    2) ensures project compliance kick‑off meetings occur,
    3) accesses and compares financial metrics on similar projects,
    4) evaluates resource allocation to projects,
    5) tracks project performance and
    6) supports project close‑outs.
  • Implement and standardize project management methodologies to provide early warning signals for potential issues/risks and significantly improve project delivery quality and efficiency

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering; required
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in transportation engineering consulting including leading various transportation project delivery teams; required
  • Professional Engineer license (PE) in NC or the ability to gain through reciprocity within 6 months; required
  • PMP Certification; preferred
  • Proven track record in winning NCDOT work; required
