Position: Civil & Energy Project Manager (Requisition Number:
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina – S&ME's Raleigh office
OverviewS&ME seeks an experienced Civil & Energy Project Manager to lead complex, multi‑disciplinary projects for clients in the Energy, Industrial, and Mining sectors – including natural gas distribution, transmission systems, and waste management. You will guide teams from concept to completion, manage permitting, oversee design, and support business development.
What You Will Do- Lead and coordinate multi‑disciplinary design teams, promoting effective communication and seamless execution.
- Manage all aspects of project delivery, including safety compliance, risk assessment, technical quality, schedule, and budget; conduct site visits and engage clients to exceed expectations.
- Lead environmental and non‑environmental permitting efforts, such as erosion & sedimentation control plans, floodplain development permits, DOT and utility encroachments, and site grading.
- Oversee design for natural gas pipelines and facilities, landfills, and electric transmission/distribution infrastructure.
- Apply expertise in AutoCAD, Civil3D, stormwater modeling, and utility design tools to produce and review construction plans and documentation.
- Partner with leadership to identify new opportunities, prepare competitive proposals, and expand the company’s client network.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (additional degrees or commensurate experience considered).
- Experience:
- 6+ years in civil and/or energy projects, with at least 2+ years in project management.
- Experience in onshore oil and gas or landfill sectors is a plus.
- Experience with environmental and non‑environmental permitting for civil and energy projects is a plus.
- Experience managing multi‑disciplined teams on life‑cycle civil or energy projects is a plus.
