We are seeking a senior transportation engineer with a focus on roadway and multimodal projects and who has a people‑first mindset, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to make a positive impact on our organization and our communities.
OverviewThis role is about leading complex and innovative transportation engineering and design projects while building client relationships that contribute to bringing work to the firm. Consistency, collaboration, and a keen focus on providing meaningful mentorship to others are all critical success factors.
Technical Focus- Demonstrated experience with an emphasis on roadway and intersection design and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Experience leading projects involving designs of the following elements: roadways, intersections, roundabouts, drainage, pedestrian/bicycle facilities, traffic signals, work zone traffic control, illumination, and/or signing & striping.
- Experience managing design of NCDOT projects.
- Expertise with one or more of the following design software tools:
Micro Station, Open Roads, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D. - Familiarity with the procedures and methodologies published in the major national guidelines (e.g., AASHTO, MUTCD) and NCDOT guidelines.
- Technical proficiency with an emphasis on roadway and intersection design.
- Provide technical direction to others for complex projects/tasks.
- Develop sound and informed scopes, budgets, and schedules for proposals.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients/teaming partners/industry professionals.
- Contribute to and develop new work opportunities.
- Deliver meaningful feedback and mentorship for career growth.
- 10-20 years of experience related to technical focus areas referenced above.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state where you will primarily deliver work.
- Clear passion for transportation and experience as a consultant.

The range for this position is $,000, which is a combination of your base salary plus an employer‑funded 401K retirement contribution. Position in this range is determined by candidate’s experience and office location.
