At Parsons, we are building the next generation of critical infrastructure. We seek an experienced Supervising Structural Engineer to lead a team of talented engineers and designers on marquee bridge and structural projects throughout North Carolina.
Job DescriptionA Supervising Structural Engineer will supervise a group of Engineers and design personnel, direct technical engineering assignments, and coordinate project staffing assignments on large or multiple smaller projects. The role requires advanced bridge design engineering techniques, leadership, and exceptional communication, analytical, technical, and management skills.
Responsibilities- Conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions, salary actions, and training for assigned personnel.
- Define discipline design organization and participation on a project, including scope, design criteria, schedules, standards, and procedures.
- Serve as Job Leader or discipline Project Engineer, responsible for preliminary through final project completion and liaison with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
- Supervise production of project drawings and design calculations, ensuring codes, standards, and quality are met.
- Coordinate discipline design work with other disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communication.
- Determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
- Promote technical excellence on the project and further the Quality Improvement Process.
- Advise engineering and project management on staffing, delays, scope changes, and other events affecting project completion and profitability.
- Initiate and/or review change order requests for additions, deletions, or changes to the original scope of work.
- Recommend design methods, equipment use, and discipline standards.
- Maintain affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
- 4‑year degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years of related work experience.
- North Carolina Professional Engineer license required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Thorough knowledge of current technology and ability to select and apply appropriate engineering software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
Based in North Carolina. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier client or construction site locations is expected. A hybrid work schedule may be available for the right candidate.
