As part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, you’ll help design critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. From high‑performance data centers to dynamic commercial environments, your work will directly support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience.
Senior Electrical Engineer – Responsibilities- Lead a team and design projects from start to finish.
- Coordinate and work closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing staff, and all other team members.
- Develop construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigations, and overall construction administration.
- Provide detailed designs and coordination with facilities team members.
- Prepare construction documents using BIM/CAD platforms.
- Edit and prepare design specifications.
- Review fee estimates, cost opinions, and write technical documents.
- Perform QA/QC review of construction documents and technical reports.
- Select equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales reps.
- Track and meet design budgets.
- Perform load calculations.
- Attend and lead design meetings.
- Provide construction administration service throughout all phases of construction.
- Experience designing lighting and electrical systems for healthcare, laboratory, federal, water/wastewater, utility, mission‑critical, and commercial office facilities.
- Strong communication skills; self‑motivated and organized.
- Ability to work both independently and with a project team.
- Some travel required.
- Experience with BIM/Revit preferred.
- Experience in sustainable design/LEED.
- Local candidates preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting, power, systems).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
