CMA is hiring a Water Resources Engineer to work on Transportation projects. This position will be responsible for hydraulic modeling of major bridge and culvert crossings, drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, as well as environmental and stormwater permitting efforts for NCDOT, other state transportation agencies, and local municipalities. Candidates should be able to efficiently plan and organize his or her workload with their team, demonstrate success working with a team of professionals, a commitment to quality, good communication skills, and a positive work ethic.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop hydraulic models utilizing hydraulic design software, such as HEC-RAS, to analyze major bridge and culvert crossings.
  • Perform scour analysis.
  • Prepare Bridge and Culvert Survey Reports in accordance with NCDOT standards.
  • Utilize software such as HY-8, Bentley Open Roads Drainage and Utilities, GEOPAK Drainage, and FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox to design and analyze hydraulic capacity of existing and proposed drainage networks, minor hydraulic structures, and drainage ditches.
  • Prepare project design drawings within Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or Micro Station.
  • Prepare Erosion and Sediment Control Plans and associated design calculations.
  • Prepare environmental permit drawings and associated application packages.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Three (3) years of hydraulic design experience for NCDOT, or other related state transportation agency projects.
  • Engineering Intern (EI) Certification with the ability to obtain NC PE License.
  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Outstanding Organizational Skills.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency, project responsibility, and initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hydraulic design experience for NCDOT, or other related state transportation agency projects preferred.
  • NC PE License (or ability to obtain reciprocity)
  • Proficiency with HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, and Bentley Open Roads Designer
  • Experience and familiarity with industry hydraulic design software such as HY-8, Bentley Open Roads Drainage and Utilities, GEOPAK Drainage.
  • Extensive knowledge of NCDOT Drainage and Erosion Control Design standards.
  • NC Level III Design of Erosion and Sediment Control Plans Certification
