Arcadis is currently seeking a highly motivated Lead Transmission Line Designer to join the Power Delivery & Renewable team in the USA. This Lead Technical Designer position is responsible for directly interfacing with Arcadis project management, engineering, and power delivery teams. The role ensures project execution in accordance with all applicable codes, standards, and Arcadis policies, including Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.
The incumbent will collaborate with Substation Engineering, Distribution Engineering, Protection & Control Engineering, System Planning and Studies teams, as well as other Arcadis business divisions and sectors.
- Support, develop, and deliver HV and EHV transmission and distribution line projects from 2 kV up to 500 kV.
- Independently perform engineering and detail design drawings, studies and analysis, plan and profile documents, prepare bidding documents and specifications, bills of materials, shop drawing review, procurement and construction documents under minimal supervision.
- Coordinate closely with civil, substation, high‐voltage electrical, telecommunications, and geotechnical engineers to develop complete Issue‑for‑Construction design packages.
- Act as Project Manager (as needed) and Technical Design Lead to support project and client services and plan.
- Serve as a mentor to junior team members, conduct quality assurance/quality control on the work of other engineers and designers, and participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors to support business development and project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technologist or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience within Transmission and Distribution line projects from 4 kV up to 500 kV, capable of executing and delivering transmission line packages under minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with PLS‑CADD software (PLS‑POLE or PLS TOWER good to have), AutoCAD, and Micro‑Station.
- Ability to engineer and design HV and EHV transmission lines, bills of material, plan and profiles, and construction packages.
- Design experience adhering to the National Electrical Code, National Electric Safety Code, IEEE codes and standards, and county, city, and state codes, ordinances, and standards.
- AutoCAD 3D experience (strongly preferred).
- Substation experience.
