Civil/Water Resources Engineer
Location:
Raleigh, NC. Immediate need at STV in our Transportation & Infrastructure division.
We are looking for a self‑starter and excellent communicator with a solid understanding of water resources and civil engineering principles. A creative, detail‑oriented professional who enjoys team collaboration is encouraged to apply. The role offers opportunity to assist with roadway transportation design, including geometric design for road and bridge projects (skills are learnable on project experience).
Responsibilities- Assist in delivering innovative, quality drainage designs on primarily Alternative Delivery projects in NC and the Southeast.
- Use hydrologic and hydraulic design software such as Open Roads Designer (Storm
CAD), HEC-HMS, and HEC‑RAS. - Use CADD and mapping software including Micro Station, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS.
- Prepare various technical reports in support of transportation project drainage designs.
- Produce quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget.
- Prepare Storm Water Management Reports and culvert/bridge hydrologic & hydraulic studies.
- Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects, including storm drains, culverts, storm water management, BMPs, ESD/LID facilities, and erosion and sediment control.
- Coordinate permitting through various water management districts including NPDES permit requirements of municipalities and other government entities.
- Participate in project meetings with client teams.
- Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Establish working relationships with internal disciplines and project managers within STV.
- Mentor junior staff in drainage design software use & applications, best practices, design criteria, etc.
- B.S. in Engineering (M.S. is a plus).
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in Water Resources Engineering / Transportation Drainage Design.
- Strong attention to detail with a tendency to self‑check work prior to formal QC.
- Experience working with NCDOT and NC municipalities desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills for client interaction and collaboration.
- Ability to obtain an NC PE License preferred.
$85,226.60 - $
