This position will serve as a field construction inspector in the street maintenance inspections group and will support higher-level engineering staff and project management in the administration of the city’s street maintenance projects. The candidate will perform duties to ensure that street maintenance projects are constructed according to plans and specifications in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner. Duties may include aspects of material sampling and testing.

Our street maintenance group is looking for a team‑oriented individual who has a background in asphalt and concrete inspections. We are looking for a candidate who can make sound and timely decisions, as well as effectively communicate between internal staff, contracting staff, citizens, and other various stakeholders. About Us

The Engineering Inspector will be staffed to the Street Maintenance Division of Transportation Field Services. Our engineers, inspectors, crews and coordinators are responsible for inspecting and improving transportation Dragon house infrastructure that keeps Raleigh moving, including but not limited to streets, sidewalks, curb and gutter, and utilities. Raleigh has an integrated, multimodal approach with a goal of providing universal accessibility памода for all residents, employers, and services.

You will join a collaborative team that works closely with other city departments, contractors, inspectors, citizens, engineering consultants, and project managers.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job‑related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Conducts daily inspections to ensure work is being performed per project contract and according to appropriate standards and specifications. Inputs and reviews daily reports and quantities for active projects
  • Conducts and reviews estimates for upcoming street maintenance contracts
  • Provides customer assistance and responds to inquiries, complaints, and information requests; performs basic research or investigations, verifies, and provides general procedure/ process information; refers complex requests to appropriate source

    Attends various meetings which may include City Council meetings, committee meetings, project reviews, and public meetings; prepares supporting project documentation; provides communication materials and updates related to projects, recommendations, and programs藟li>
  • Assists in reviewing plans, proposals, and maps hada to perform mathematical calculations; conducts basic analysis and/or geospatial analysis; may provide site and service assessments to determine issues and provide recommendations
  • Required to operate a pickup truck or other equipment on a daily basis for on‑site meetings and inspections of contractors
Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 3 to 5 years’ experience in construction,မ္း construction inspection, or related work

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted

Licenses or Certifications
    Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability ақпарат within 60 days of hire
Knowledge of
  • Applicable local, state and federal codes, regulations, laws, and guidelines
