Mechanical Engineer – Raleigh, NC

Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Raleigh, NC. This hybrid office role requires 3 days in‑office and 2 days remote, and relocation benefits are available within the United States.

Expected annual salary: $93,750 – $137,500, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Launch critical power infrastructure products that meet customer requirements and Eaton’s safety, quality, reliability, cost, and schedule commitments.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to define requirements and design mechanical systems, taking into account space, manufacturing, service, thermal, and other design considerations.
  • Guide and review designs of other technical project team members, providing constructive feedback.
  • Work with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality, and component availability.
  • Develop and support engineering and validation prototypes, and assist manufacturing personnel during the launch process.
  • Apply industry design principles for sheet metal, plastics, and other manufacturing methods.
  • Employ problem‑solving skills to design and layout systems, balancing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and long‑term serviceability.
  • Participate in project‑wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.
  • Coordinate with regulatory experts to ensure designs meet UL and other certification body requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process, tools, and test methodology improvements, and drive those initiatives from concept to implementation.
Required (Basic) Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with at least two (2) years of mechanical design experience, or a Master’s degree with at least one (1) year of experience.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without future corporate sponsorship. Eaton will not provide immigration sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience developing large‑scale power electronics from concept to manufacturing launch.
  • Experience with power distribution system design and protection.
  • Experience with 3‑phase UPS and multi‑kilowatt lithium‑ion energy storage systems, including battery management and outdoor or non‑controlled environments.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) techniques.
  • Experience with thermal and structural simulations.
  • Experience with sheet metal design, BOM creation, and reading electrical diagrams.
