Safety Specialist – Raleigh, NC
Ensures compliance with Adams Environmental, Health and Safety programs, including State and Federal regulations across assigned projects.
Duties and Responsibilities – Essential Functions- Perform Construction Site and Safety Audits, e.g., Adams Project Site Safety Inspection.
- Participate in project handoff programs and processes, preparing the site and acclimating project teams.
- Communicate findings and provide corrective measures via Adams information systems.
- Conduct quality control inspections of field leadership personnel to ensure adherence to safety forms and inspections such as Adams Pre‑Task Planning.
- Ensure projects are equipped with safety apparatus, PPE, potable water, latrines, first aid, etc.
- Consult and advise field leadership, helping maintain a safe environment per safety regulations and standards.
- Assistance to superiors in enforcing safety policy and environmental health guidelines.
- Train project site personnel on health and safety topics.
- Provide direct technical surveillance and testing services as required.
- Enforce and implement Adams Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform scheduled Site Safety Audits as needed or by request.
- Assist leadership with incident and “near miss” investigations.
- Provide in‑house training for Adams employees (OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR/AED, Scissor lift, forklift, aerial boom lift, fall protection, Powder Actuated tool, confined space, heat stress, NFPA 70E, ladder safety, power‑driven tools).
- Record, file and distribute training certifications.
- Attend all Safety meetings required by Adams, contractors, and owners.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with all field associates, project managers, trade contractors, and client contacts to ensure satisfaction with the Safety Program.
- In‑depth knowledge of Adams Electric Company Environmental, Health, and Safety Manual.
- In‑depth knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926 and 29 CFR 1910).
- Strong working knowledge of the NFPA 70E manual.
- Skill in creating, filing, maintaining, and disposing of personnel and company records.
- Proficiency in web/database safety and training programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to adjust to sudden demands.
- Ability to present and train both large and small groups regularly.
- Meets NFPA 70E – Electrical Safety Qualified Person criteria.
- At least two years of work experience in safety coordination at a major construction site.
