Geotechnical EIT/Designer
Join HDR as a Geotechnical EIT/Designer. You’ll work under a licensed PE to analyze and design the geotechnical aspects of infrastructure projects such as roadways, bridges, buildings, dams, slopes, asphalt and concrete pavements, and more. The role includes regular travel throughout the Southeast and coordination with project managers to meet project objectives.
Responsibilities- Travel throughout the Southeast to oversee drilling operations, logging and classifying soil and rock materials.
- Set up field exploration programs and coordinate with subcontractors.
- Conduct field inspections of construction activities, including earthwork and foundation installations.
- Maintain strong oral and written communication skills.
- Work independently or as part of a team assisting senior geotechnical staff.
- Exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and modifying standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- MS in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- EIT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with GIS.
- Familiarity with CAD software (Micro Station).
- Local candidates preferred.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics.
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering software and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast, mainly NC.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience with MS Office and related software applications.
