Role SummaryThe Project Engineer 2 will complete and support routine construction and field execution responsibilities for construction projects, utilizing construction fundamentals and company best practice standards, processes, resources, and tools. This position will be responsible for participating in many facets of the construction process, such as general construction management, punch lists, and executing self-perform work, to understand the building process and how JE Dunn executes projects.
All activities will support the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.
- Autonomy and Decision Making: Makes decisions on assigned areas of responsibility, provides recommendations to supervisors, and refers all exceptions to supervisors as needed.

PROJECT ENGINEERING FAMILY - CORE
- Learn and actively participate in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans and culture by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.
- Participate in project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.
- Learn and participate in estimating and change management processes and tools, including quantity take-offs and review of subcontractor proposals.
- Work on-site with the project team to support tasks such as monitoring crew size, self-perform hours, materials, quantities, and equipment.
- Participate in activities like punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews, and documentation preparation.
- Post drawings and specifications with the most recent information.
- Organize and participate in project meetings, prepare, and disseminate documentation as appropriate.
- Support and prepare reports including daily reports, weekly progress reports, manpower, production schedules, and equipment tracking.
- Perform periodic job site observations with project leadership.
- Create procurement logs based on project schedules and specifications, track shop drawings, and follow up on deliveries.
- Provide progress updates to support scheduling.
- Support project close-out activities, including punch lists, manuals, and as-built drawings.
- Utilize company standards and construction techniques.
- Build relationships and develop communication skills with tradespeople and project team members.
- Develop understanding of various functions and support roles across the company.
- Collaborate and demonstrate teamwork in project settings.
- Learn and incorporate Lean practices into activities.
- Learn about best practices for self-perform opportunities.
PROJECT ENGINEER 2
In addition, this position will be responsible for:
- Implement project safety plans and ensure compliance through training and communication.
- Assist in preparing estimates, schedules, work plans, and logs.
- Pre-plan crew activities, fulfill daily task plan requirements, and update schedules.
- Support project administration in CMiC and other technologies.
- Manage subcontractor scope of work.
- Coordinate with internal support functions.
- Control costs by evaluating and improving processes.
- Participate in QA/QC planning for assigned tasks.
- Assist in developing and maintaining crew schedules.
- Analyze materials, costs, and equipment on-site.
- Support training and mentoring of less experienced team members.
- Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Knowledge of organizational structure and resources.
- Knowledge of Lean processes and philosophy.
