Structural Project Manager, Cold‑Formed Steel (CFS)

Join GPLA Structural Engineers and Builders as a Structural Project Manager focused on cold‑formed steel (CFS). This role oversees projects from conceptual design through construction completion, ensuring structural components are designed, modeled, detailed, and delivered in accordance with the project’s scope, budget, and schedule.

• Mentor and manage Structural Designers I/II, Structural Design Engineers, and Structural Project Engineers.
• Produce drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout the design phase.
• Review deliverables to ensure scope and quality standards are met.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including objectives, scope, deliverables, and timelines.
• Manage construction administration tasks: review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, make site visits.
• Oversee development of structural designs and analytical models for various building types with focus on CFS.
• Perform and review calculations to ensure structural integrity and compliance with codes.
• Utilize CAD software (Tekla Structures) and other tools to create 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Lead team members to meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality design solutions.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and MEP designers.
• Manage project design meetings, set agendas, take notes, and provide minutes.
• Stay updated with industry trends and code updates; participate in professional development.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancement.
• Monitor project costs, track expenses, manage the project budget, and prepare Monthly Status Reports.
• Invoice, pursue payment, and manage change orders as appropriate.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for team members.

• In‑depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards.
• Experience with CFS framing and related materials, techniques, and analysis.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a structural focus (Master’s preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required;
  Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
• At least eight years of structural engineering experience, with five years in CFS design.

• Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work with a computer for prolonged periods.
Travel to perform site visits at various project locations across the country.
• Capability to lift a minimum of 15 pounds if needed.
