Our work includes design review, permitting, roadway additions/deletions, and coordination with municipalities and NCDOT districts to support safe and efficient transportation networks.
We are seeking Engineer I professionals to join our Transportation Engineering Team in Aberdeen, NC, supporting projects across Hoke, Lee, Moore, Richmond, and Scotland counties. These positions will report to our client’s Aberdeen District Office and provide engineering support for daily operations, permitting, and plan reviews within the NCDOT District.
- Review encroachment and driveway permit applications, ensuring compliance with NCDOT standards, design criteria, and safety requirements.
- Conduct subdivision plan reviews to confirm roadway design, drainage, and access meet NCDOT specifications.
- Process road additions and deletions for the state highway system.
- Evaluate and provide technical input on Traffic Impact Analyses (TIAs).
- Perform field inspections, such as verifying turn lanes, drainage, and other roadway features for permitted projects.
- Research right‑of‑way (ROW) and project plans to support permitting, coordination, and field inquiries.
Respond to day‑to‑day public and contractor inquiries, directing customers to appropriate staff or NCDOT units as needed.
- Support coordination between NCDOT District staff, local governments, developers, and the public.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline from an ABET‑accredited program.
- 0‑2 years of relevant experience (internship or co‑op experience accepted).
- Basic understanding of roadway design, plan review, or construction inspection.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with NCDOT Connect, Driveway Permit, or Encroachment systems.
- Experience reviewing or inspecting roadway design, drainage, and traffic control plans.
- Proficiency with Micro Station, AutoCAD, or GIS tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client and public interaction.
