STV has an immediate need in our Charlotte or Raleigh, NC office for a Civil / Roadway Engineer in our Transportation Division. The successful candidate will apply roadway engineering principles to provide design for road and bridge projects and will work with junior staff members and other disciplines for successful project production and execution.
Responsibilities- Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects for municipal agencies and NCDOT.
- Design roadway geometry and details, drainage, traffic control, pavement markings, and signing for transportation infrastructure.
- Interact with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams.
- Design using Micro Station; experience in Open Roads (ORD) is a plus.
- Coordinate design development and provide technical direction to other design staff.
- Coordinate with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget.
- Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Establish working relationships and interface with client technical staff and project managers.
- Mentor supporting Civil design staff.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in all technical aspects of roadway design including highway, reduced conflict intersections, roundabouts, intersections, widenings, and bike/ped design.
- Experience with Micro Station and Geopak is required; familiarity with Open Roads Designer is a plus.
- Familiarity with the latest edition of AASHTO Green Book and MUTCD.
- Experience with NCDOT and other NC municipalities is a plus.
- Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction.
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a master’s degree in Civil Engineering; NC PE license is required.
