Energy Program Manager - Design Build

Join Dewberry's Dynamic Team as an Energy Program Manager! Dewberry Design-Builders Inc. is seeking a senior leader in our energy sector design-build practice located in Richmond, VA or Raleigh, NC.

As Program Manager you will grow and manage our energy design-build programs across the Mid‑Atlantic and Carolinas. Projects include design and construction of energy facilities, site civil, security barrier projects, and on‑site generation (solar, gas turbine, microgrids).

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute business development strategies that drive revenue and profit margin growth.
  • Develop and manage project construction estimates, financial metrics and schedules for energy projects.
  • Serve as a segment lead for design‑build and construction energy utility client projects.
  • Work with HSE leadership to manage safety across energy sector projects.
  • Program manage design‑build and construction of various energy facility projects.
  • Achieve schedule and budget objectives.
  • Mobilize, energize, and organize cross‑functional teams for success.
  • Collaborate proactively with other groups and offices across the energy teams.
  • Review and manage prime contracts and subcontract terms and strategies.
Required Skills & Experience
  • BS in construction management or engineering (preferred).
  • 10‑15 years of relevant experience in design‑build or construction of energy facility projects.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the energy utility market.
  • Strong understanding of alternative delivery design‑build contracting alternatives.
  • Proven expertise in managing and motivating high‑performing teams, including subcontract construction partner relationships in the energy market sector.
  • Excellent strategic development, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated project management success for private and public utility clients.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record (local travel required).
