Overview
First Presbyterian Church Child Development Center is a growing and vibrant CHRISTIAN Child Care Center in downtown Raleigh currently seeking passionate and experienced applicants to join our team! We are constantly working to improve ourselves and are currently working on quality of care, developmentally appropriate practice, respect for children and families, and professionalism at work with colleagues. MOST importantly, we are looking for teachers who want to guide children’s spiritual and emotional development and are passionate about talking with children about God’s love for them!
We are seeking teaching and experts in child development who are devoted to the healthy development of children’s self-esteem, independence and identity, encouraging their development of a sense of security, encouraging them to explore their world, and collaborating with other teachers to create a warm and welcoming classroom environment. We are currently reviewing applications for Full-Time Lead and Assistant teachers, and Classroom Floaters.
CLASSROOM FLOATERS/ SUBSTITUTES will possess the following qualifications:
- High school diploma
- 1+ yrs experience working in a licensed childcare facility
- Passion for early childhood, children, and families
- Flexibility regarding hours and responsibilities as needed by the center
- willingness to work at least 20+ hrs. per week, regularly
- Kindness, patience, curiosity
TEACHERS will possess all of the above qualifications, plus the following:
- Associate or Bachelor degree in early childhood education
- Birth-Kindergarten Teaching License preferred
- 3+ yrs. experience working in a licensed childcare facility, leading a classroom as well as creating developmentally appropriate and individualized lesson plans
- Experience with Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline
- Proven classroom management and knowledge of ITERS and ECERS
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills, including the time management skills to handle multiple priorities and responsibilities
Candidates for ALL positions should possess the following qualifications:
- Current DCDEE cleared background check and fingerprinting
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification
- Demonstrate proof of meeting health regulation requirements ( e.g., Staff Medical Report, TB test)
- Possess good interpersonal communication skills in order to work with Director, Assistant Director, Program Coordinator, Mentor Teacher, Teachers, children, parents, and prospective families with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Willingness to pursue continuing education to enhance professional growth
- May require a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
- Must successfully complete all phases of pre-service and on-going training, including, but not limited to, First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, and Universal Precautions.
- Possible exposure to infectious diseases.
- Some evening work hours.
- Must pass the TB test.
- Have the ability to perform physical demands associated with daily operational functions, property management, and client interactions, such as standing, bending, lifting, facility cleaning (interior and exterior) and maintenance, supplies inventory, and other rotating assignments.
- Will be required to lift and/or carry children, equipment and/or program materials.
- Have the ability to comprehend and produce accurate program documentation, including, but not limited to, lesson planning, information sharing, and record keeping.
- Have the ability to communicate professionally in verbal and written formats with consumers, including, but not limited to parents, colleagues, and community service providers.
- Have the ability to provide on-going visual and physical proximity supervision of children.
- Have the ability to physically participate in program activities with children, including, but not limited to, arts, athletic, and outdoor activities.
- Regular attendance at primary worksite and related events.
- Have the ability to work beyond the normal work schedule as necessary.
