Job DescriptionJoin a mission‑driven higher education institution dedicated to expanding access to higher education through online, competency‑based degree programs. The position is located onsite in Dayton, Ohio, but can involve remote responsibilities as needed.
The salary range for this position is based on skill, experience, licensure and other factors. Current estimated range:
Grade Faculty 507, Pay Range: $37.64 - $56.49 per hour. Compensation is paid hourly and bi‑weekly.
Prelicensure Clinical Instructors (Hourly) are subject matter experts who teach and mentor students when engaged in experiential clinical coursework; in a remote/on‑site environment. This faculty position varies in the type, length, and intensity of instructional methods and is based upon student and facility needs. The Clinical Instructor works on a team to support an assigned group of students and offers specialized instruction on challenging experiential/clinical coursework.
Faculty interacts with students in both group and one‑on‑one settings. The Clinical Instructor ensures students are successful within their clinical placement setting as they oversee clinical learning.
This role is paid hourly and bi‑weekly. The employee will be required to enter all hours worked in an accurate and timely manner.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Demonstrate a high level of commitment, effectiveness, and consistency.
- Serve as a professional role model for students in communication, ethical comportment, and problem‑solving.
- Provide expertise in an assigned content area and maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and participate in, the implementation of the philosophy and goals of the program.
- Foster student learning through innovative teaching practices, including duties in the clinical setting.
- Respond with urgency to meet student needs and communicate professionally and respectfully with students and all WGU community members.
- Make appropriate student referrals for remediation or other needs, utilizing WGU policies and procedures.
- Communicate with the student’s assigned coach/preceptor as needed to discuss student progress and concerns.
- Provide final review and approval for student’s clinical time.
- Offer proactive support and outreach to assigned students.
- Use technology‑based teaching and communication platforms to aid students in the development of competencies.
- Submit electronic clinical student evaluation form(s) after completion of clinical intensive.
- Collaborate with other professionals within the university to promote a positive, student‑obsessed atmosphere.
- Respond with urgency to changing requirements, priorities, and short deadlines.
- Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of relevant state regulations.
- Conduct both in‑person and remote methods of student evaluation.
