Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses such as Teaching Science in the Primary Grades (ELM 320) and Teaching Science in the Intermediate Grades (ELM 420).
- Lead the Children Design, Create & Invent (ELM 340) course for prospective elementary teachers.
- Possibly teach science methods courses and graduate-level specialization courses for practicing elementary teachers.
- Serve as a member of the Elementary Education in Mathematics and Science (EEMS) doctoral concentration.
- Collaborate with STEM Education groups, establish partnerships with local school districts, and facilitate professional development for teachers.
- Engage in scholarship related to teaching and learning and conduct additional research projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
- PhD or EdD in Science/STEM Education or a closely related field (e.g., curriculum & instruction with a science emphasis).
- Experience with PK-6 students in formal and/or informal educational settings.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated capacity to work with all students and prepare future educators for all populations.
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience in grades K-8.
- Experience teaching pre-service and practicing teachers.
- Record of publication and presentation, especially related to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Record of internal/external funding supporting related research.
- Experience facilitating teacher professional development.
- Success in building relationships with schools and districts.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Valid NC Driver's License required.
