This position is responsible for assisting the dean with oversight and leadership of the Mathematics and Sciences Division, and in the absence of the dean, the associate dean will assume the dean's responsibilities and duties. The duties will include leadership and support for the division's STEM opportunities, student research, and grants.

Responsibilities- Assists with oversight, growth, and quality control of Associates in Science degree program, and for all courses that are under the purview of the MS Division
- Represents academic programs and division in college meetings and committees
- Assists with support and guidance for students
- Assists with professional development and supervision support for division personnel
- Shares leadership and support for STEM initiatives, student research, and grants
Works with other college areas to address college, faculty, and student needs
Assists in resolution of student issues, meeting with students as needed for course retakes, grade appeals, and academic violations
Assists division with implementation of student success and retention strategies, and with course redesign initiatives
Works with dean and department heads to recruit, hire, mentor, train, observe and evaluate faculty and staff members
Works with dean and department heads to solve problems and provide mediation of personnel issues
Works with dean to develop and implement division-wide institutional effectiveness and assessment plans
Works with department heads and Institutional Effectiveness Office to gather and report relevant data from departments and division
Assists with data management for division
Assists department heads, dean, and the registrar's office with scheduling issues and enrollment management
Assists dean with allocation and monitoring of division resources, fostering and maintaining external partnerships

- Working knowledge of NC Community College System policies and procedures
- Master's Degree in an area relevant to courses taught in the division: mathematics and sciences
- Two years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution in mathematics and sciences
- Two years of supervision, management, or leadership experience
- Four years of teaching experience at a community college
- Four years of leadership and supervision experience at a community college
