Overview
Wake County Public Libraries is looking for part-time Library Assistants for three of our library locations!

What You'll Be Doing- Work on a public service desk to answer questions, check books out, and issue library cards
- Help patrons with informational and reading needs
- Assist Library Manager with library operational duties
- Assist Librarians with program set-up and/or program delivery
- Assist with making creative book displays
Current opportunities are at the following locations (you will be given an opportunity to express location preferences during the application process):
- Community Libraries
- Duraleigh Community Library, 5800 Duraleigh Road, Raleigh, NC 27612
Schedule:
- Monday 8-1
- Tuesday 12-5
- Wednesday 4-9
- Thursday OFF
- Friday 1-6
- Every other weekend:
Saturday 1-6 and Sunday 12-5

Schedule for Adult Services position:
Two nights, one to two daytime shifts, and every other weekend. Specific schedule will be discussed during interview.
Schedule for Youth Services position:
Two nights, one to two daytime shifts, and every other weekend. Specific schedule will be discussed during interview.

Two nights, one afternoon, and every other weekend. Specific schedule will be discussed during interview.
* Please note that Library Assistants hired into these positions must have a strong interest and willingness to learn children's programming
* Part-time Library Assistants generally work a combination of morning, afternoon, and evening hours with a regular Saturday and Sunday rotation (may vary by location)

QualificationsThe Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Associate's degree
- No specific experience required
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
- Public Library experience working on a service desk
- Customer Service or Bookstore experience
- Experience working directly with children, for some locations
- For some locations, Spanish-language skills desired
- Enjoys working with people and excels at providing customer service
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Is energetic, motivated, and takes initiative
- Is detail-oriented, flexible, and adaptable to change
- Has great technology skills (e.g., Internet, MS Office Word/Excel, Google Docs) and learns new technologies quickly
- Loves books and reading; good working knowledge of reading trends and popular titles for adults and youth; ability to recommend titles and authors
