NC State University’s Betsy‑Jeff Penn 4‑H Center is seeking Outdoor Education Instructors for our spring program season beginning March 2, 2026 and ending May 22, 2026. Staff may also continue employment for the summer camp (June‑August) and fall programming (August‑November). The center provides day and overnight programs to elementary, middle, and high school students on 220 acres in Reidsville, NC. Internships may also be available.

• Provide instruction for approximately 20 environmental science and cultural history programs to elementary school students.
• Teach topics such as aquatic ecology, forest measurements, predator/prey relationships, wildlife habitats, pioneer living history, canoeing, and more.
• Facilitate team challenges and Low/High Ropes course elements for the “Soaring Thru Spaces” program.
• Attend a 2‑week paid staff training (Mar 2‑6 / 9‑13) and a 3‑day high‑ropes course training.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support program delivery.

Varying hours, generally five‑day weeks with occasional weekend work. Long days (8 am–9 pm) may be required. No overnight supervisory duties. A private room in the staff house and meals are provided during spring employment.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum).
• Love working with children, interest in experiential education, enthusiasm for hard work, and patience.
• Preferred: degree in a related field or at least 2 years experience working with youth; prior camp setting experience.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license is not required; commercial driver’s license is not required.
